My name is Tamia Morilla, I have been working in childcare for 5 years. I have worked with many agencies surrounding childcare such as ACS,DOE,DOH. I began my journey at the age of 13 helping my mother, tutoring her students during Saturday school with math and English. Following this experience is how I developed my passion for working with children. Later, I worked as a camp counselor for children ages 3-10 with Camba. In this job I helped kids explore their passions and help identify their goals in life. After graduating high school, I studied a year at Clark Atlanta University as a biology major. My intention in biology was to practice kinesiology and become a physical therapist, where I would be able to help all patients, especially kids in the categories of sports. After moving back to New York, I began working with children again, first starting as an ABA teacher for children with all different types of disabilities. It was something that initially developed a love and passion for rather than a hobby and something to do. I later took my career to an early childcare school that had many different centers with all different ethnicities. This broadened experience allowed me to grow as a teacher and expand my character as a person. I enjoy working with children, their explicate personalities leaves me eager to know what other amazing embellishments are yet to be discovered. I love meeting children’s families because each child has a different story and a different personality. Being a part of shaping their young minds into being strong leaders one day is the comforting part for me. I want the best for each one of my students, my goal is to have them go home with a smile on their face and with a new lesson that they have learned for betterment for themselves each day!
